The goal is to create a wearable gait measurement device to characterize the normal gate of a person and compare this “normal” gate in real time with the characteristics of the current gate as elderly person walks around the house. The final design will be a wearable device that will continuously monitor gait over long periods of time in order to detect deviations in gait without the wearers intervention. Furthermore, this will allow the user to make adjustments to their gait to prevent the onset of a fall.
